Inspiring Butterflies | Moths

In Ted Andrew’s Animal Tarot deck, the butterfly serves as the Ace of Shapeshifters (Water). The #1 epitomizes new beginnings and the Butterfly signifies new nectar within our lives.

Inherent within new beginnings is the vulnerability as one enters uncharted territory. When it emerges from the chrysalis stage, the butterfly’s wings are wet prohibiting flight. Until his wings dry, the butterfly is incredibly vulnerable.

Although lore often associates it with transformation, the butterfly is the outcome of transformation and signifies action within the new life phase.

Butterflies and moths are closely related and included in the same gallery.
