Dogwood Bracts & Flowers
Lovely dogwood trees herald spring’s arrival with their beautiful bract blooms. Within the protection of the bracts, a small flower is nurtured that blossoms as the bract leaves enter their elder stage. Though the dogwood tree appears fragile, the wood is strong and free of silica. Dogwood teaches us to refrain from underestimating those who appear “pretty and frail.” A tenacious spirit is often beheld within the heart and soul. As it is one of the first spring blooms, the dogwood encourages us to seek new beginnings with purity of heart – blooms are white (purity) & pink | magenta (heart). The dogwood photos in this gallery are urban foliage, taken in the heart of Buckhead within the City of Atlanta limits.
