DGE Nature Walk @ Oscar Scherer State Park
On Saturday, January 14, the Rotary District Governor Elect (DGE) and partner group gathered at Oscar Scherer State Park for a morning of education, embracing nature, a lovely grilled lunch, and camaraderie.
After the DGE HomeStay Program Co-Chair Barry Levinson welcomed the international guests, District 6960 DGE Alfred Connect of The Rotary Club of Englewood further welcomed his fellow DGEs and apologized for the unusual chilly weather. Following the state park manager’s park-history talk, Sarasota Bay Club members Charles Reith and Aaron Virgin invited the DGEs on two separate nature walks.
The event concluded with a lovely lunch of grilled hamburgers/sausages along with an array of homemade and store-prepared accompaniments.
